But first, a new painting:
When I first started this painting, I was thinking about the cheerful red stripes on old-fashioned store awnings. (For some reason I associate these with ice cream shops.)
But when I finished, it reminded me a lot of more Italy (because of the colors in the Italian flag) and especially of the striped gondola poles in pictures of Venice. Then I found a beautiful recording of a mandolin, and I knew I had to make this little video for you:
